Frequently Asked Questions

F.A.Q.

What are wood flowers?

Our delicate wood flowers are made from a species of aquatic, flowering plant in the family Fabaceae. The low density “wood” from the stem of the Aeschynomene aspera  is one of the lightest woods in the world, has a slight foam balsa-wood or corky texture, and has long been used to make traditional Indian crafts and artworks. The versatility of this wood as a craft material allows numerous styles of beautiful flowers and provides a lifelike, unique character to each handmade blossom.

As these flowers are each handmade from this natural wood material, slight imperfections such as visible woodgrain, chips, or specks of the natural bark, or knots are common elements of the flowers. You will find this helps breathe even more life into the appearance of their arrangements.

In addition to these sola wood flowers, we also work with other natural materials such as sheet music, book pages, comic book pages, preserved foliage, and preserved flowers. When going for a particular look, we will also use faux eucalyptus, lambs’ ear, dusty miller, and other similar greenery. If you have a specific question about a material in your bouquet or arrangement, please feel free to ask!

How should I take care of my flowers?

We recommend storing your flowers in a cool dry place. It is not recommended to keep the flowers in air tight containers as they are made from natural materials and need to breathe. Any excessive moisture and direct sunlight may alter the appearance of your final product. If your flowers become dusty, a quick light spray with an air can or a hair dryer on the cool setting with blow away any unwanted dust.

Wood flowers? Does that mean they are hard and heavy?

Not at all; our wood flowers are actually very pliable, lightweight, soft to the touch, and a lot like real flowers in the sense that they are still fragile.

How long will my sola wood flower arrangement last?

With the proper care, following our recommended care guide, your flowers will last for years to come!

Can I customize a bouquet, arrangement, or accessory I see from your shop?

Yes! Everything we make is 100% custom. Do you have a grand vision in mind? We would love to help you bring that vision to life!

How far in advance of my wedding should I order?

While we do offer rush options if you need your floral order on a shorter timeline, we recommend ordering at least 3-6 months in advance of your wedding date. We aim and prefer to have have your flowers ready and arriving to you within a month before your wedding date. This helps our brides avoid surprises and helps shorten their already overflowing to-do lists. Please contact us with any questions.

Will I be able to see my order before it ships?

Of course! We want you to be 100% satisfied. You have the freedom to be involved as much or as little as possible. We encourage it. Especially when it comes to your wedding florals, we want to make sure they’re everything you dreamed of. If I found out a bride was only 80% happy with her floral order for her special day, I’d be devastated. It’s your day! Make sure everything you want is exactly as you imagined.

Do you offer sample flowers to see color?

We offer sample sets and loose flowers for purchase to make sure the colors you want match your vision. As always, if you do not see a color indicated on our color chart, please send us a message to arrange a custom color creation for you.
